Pre-race routine:

The more races I do the more I appreciate the ones I can sleep in my own house the night before. This was not one of them.
Event warmup:

I completely blew my warmup (as in I didn't have one) except I did manage to get in the water for 10 minutes or so before we had to line up.
Swim
  • 43m 56s
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was a time trial start with 2 swimmers going off every 5 seconds. I was very surprised to get about halfway to the first turn and hit the washing machine. There must have been boats out there or maybe it was windier than I thought.

I thought I swam pretty good. I had to pee and I know that slowed me down but moving time was much faster than my overall would indicate.
Transition 1
  • 02m 49s
Comments:

The run from the water to T1 wasn't insignificant. Glad I took the xtra seconds for sunscreen - only wish I had gotten BOTH sides of my back. The next day my left side was FRIED.
Bike
  • 3h 19m 18s
  • 56 miles
  • 16.86 mile/hr
Comments:

This is my first year training with power and I'm struggling to work with it. I really wanted to break 3 hours on this ride but I'm being held to 75-80% of a power number that I'm not even sure is my FTP because I feel like I can do better. I'm doing what I'm told, trusting the process and keeping my eye on the bigger prize, IMMT in August.
Transition 2
  • 03m 53s
Comments:

The run from the mat to the rack was ridiculously long. Eventually I gave up running and just walked quickly.
Run
  • 2h 28m 27s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

It was hot. Really hot.

Mile 4 had no water (only gatorade). After that the rest stops started to run out of cups so they were giving out 24oz bottles of water - of which I'd drink some, and dump the rest on me. Seemed like a waste and I really hope they didn't run out for the 148 people who came through behind me. And while all the volunteers were friendly and well meaning, at a lot of water stations they had everything out on the table for you to pick up like you were out for a stroll and headed to a buffet rather than having people standing there to hand you items.

Overall it was fine and I'm sure they were all hot too.

And thanks to the man and his son sitting outside with the garden hose propped up on their mailbox cheering us on - much appreciated!
Post race
Warm down:

I was pretty disappointed with my time -but hey it was still better than Quassy.

Event comments:

All in all Sun Multisports does a good job with their events and they have decent swag so I would probably do another event.
