Swim
Comments: We had overall good conditions with not much current. The sun made sighting a little challenging on the first lap even with tinted goggles. I made sure on the second lap at the sandbar section to visually look to see the buoys and see where I should be sighting off of (the bridge). I had some issues sighting on the buoys into shore. Not sure what my issue was. The first lap was uneventful and I tried to consciously swim hard/with focus. The second lap was more of the same. The time went fast. I kept swimming until my hands hit the bottom and then I took off running up the chute. I saw Brad chilling out in the water cheering for me as I finished. What would you do differently?: Swim 32 seconds harder so I could have broken 1 hour. But still an improvement from the last time I swam this race. Post race
Warm down: Got into the water to take off my wetsuit and wait for Karen to come in Event comments: I love any chance to swim an open water swim race. The check in process was easy. The chip was ginormous though! I saw post race cups of water, but didn't see any other refreshments. It would have been nice to have something. Also, they had bag check, but it was just a sectioned off square of grass where you could put your bag. No one checked any numbers so it wasn't any more secure than just leaving your bag in any other grassy area. Last updated: 2016-06-14 12:00 AM

Karen, Brad and I were up early to get to the race site with enough time to check in. We had a ton of extra time so just hung out in the shade trying to wake up. We watched the 1.2 mile swimmers go off and then Karen and I watched the 2.4 mile males go off.
No real warm up. I got in the water to get water in my wetsuit.
