Swim
Comments: Came out slowly, plan was to just have fun. After about 100yrds started to get settled in and was passing people. After another 100yrds was really feeling very comfortable. Wasn't expecting much so that made me feel more encouraging about the race. What would you do differently?: Next race in July, I'll be coming a little more prepared and ready to come out swimming harder. Also, swim further into shore instead of standing up and walking it in. Transition 1
Comments: Had a great transition spot, not 15 feet from water exit. Had to sit down to put on socks and shoes. What would you do differently?: Not sit down, need to start training without wearing socks. Bike
Comments: Settled in to ride, wasn't going to go very hard just having fun. About 2miles in I saw Brian gave him a shout out and not 30 seconds later I hit a bump and ejected my water bottle. Now I had nothing to drink, really was upsetting. Never had an issue with bottle before. Managed to get a cup of water at the half way point. Having started in the 6th wave had lots of people to pass, which made for interesting ride. Please people stay right unless you're passing. Having not rode my bike much since last fall, my back was starting to get tight from being in aero the whole time. What would you do differently?: Note for next time, first half is much faster than second half. Save some gas for the back half. You've done this race 9 times previous need to think about these things ahead of time. Need to ride in aero on my bike more often, as well as drop the extra 15lbs I've been carrying around. Transition 2
Comments: Quick transition, got shoes off and slipped on running shoes, grabbed race belt and headed out. What would you do differently?: Maybe run with bike. Run
Comments: Just wanted to maintain a run the entire race. The run has been my weakest link. Had watch on and just wanted to maintain 10:00 pace while walking through aid stations. Next race will be better. What would you do differently?: Really kick in for the last mile which is down hill. More brick training for all runs. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water and quick sandwich. Meet up with parents and chatted about race. Ran into couple other guys from the gym and congratulated them on their races. What limited your ability to perform faster: Spring training has been very light and I'm carrying to much extra weight that I don't need to carry. Event comments: Having done this race 9 previous times, it's a good indication they put on a great race. I very much enjoy the Wednesday evening races which doesn't take away from my kids weekend sports. Last updated: 2016-06-23 12:00 AM

With all the construction around time, i left the office very early. Arrived at 3pm and just layed on blanket until race check-in was open. Around 4pm I checked in and got my bib and timing chip. Waited for parents and kept an eye out for others I knew were planning on racing. When parents arrived they setup there spot and I packed up all my gear and setup transition.
I didn't have any expectations for the race, as I've been missing several workouts since my Full IM last fall.
No real warm-up, just waded in water while the first 5 waves went out. Not a fan of being in wet suit for so long.
