Swim
Comments: Swim starts off, I get going...swimming swimming swimming...goggles fog, go to fix them and POP out comes the strap. The remainder of the swim was done with my goggles in my teeth with a heads up breast stroke in order to keep water out of my contacts (disaster#1) What would you do differently?: Keep my goggles together!! Transition 1
Comments: One of the few places with no issues even with adding a jacket to hide from the wind Bike
Comments: Givin'er on the bike. determined to make up for lost time!! Can see my friend in the distance and am determined to catch her. I go to shift gears and.... OFF COMES THE CHAIN.... damn. Off the bike, chain back on, covered in grease, heading thunder, seeing lightening...back on the bike...feel the twitching in my hamstring that's seizing in the cold. Back off the bike, stretch it out, back on....curse wildly, cry a little... give up a little....then hammer down. What would you do differently?: So many many things. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: less frustration from the rest of the race Run
Comments: I was wet...I was cold...I was grumpy... I was just behind my friend after all and could see her in the distance. I caught her and passed her. I usually find the run my favorite part and start joking around with everyone as I run. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Equipment failures Event comments: This was the single most disastrous race I could have imagined but by no one's fault. Between googles that came apart, bike chain that came off, seized hamstring and freezing rainy weather with thunder, lightening, and ICE pellets....it was a gong show!! Best thing I can say about this race: I lived!!! Can't wait till next year. Last updated: 2016-07-07 12:00 AM
