Swim
Comments: Good swim. Felt really great. Chop was a little rough as there were 20-25 mph wind gusts on the course. It's the left over from the hurricane. What would you do differently?: Not much I would do differently. I need to get better with sighting as I would slow to complete the sighting. Transition 1
Comments: Decent T1. Best of the season. Still need to get better at T1. 1 minute shorter than where I was earlier in the season What would you do differently?: Still need to do more practice here. I am getting close to where the only way to be faster is to have the shoes already on the bike and run and jump on slipping the feet in on the road. Bike
Comments: Good bike split. It was my first time racing with my new FLO wheels. Definitely could feel the difference with them on and staying aero. The cross winds and gusts did throw me around a little on the course. What would you do differently?: Not much I would do differently. Ate at the right time and had a killer bike split. I was very happy with this effort. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2. Only issue was that there weren't any volunteers helping to direct you. I went the wrong way out of T2 and ended up not getting a T2 split. This time is from my Garmin What would you do differently?: Not much. Smooth T2. T1 is my weak spot. Run
Comments: Pace was good until mile 2. I ran out of gas and had trouble keeping the legs running. Course was hillier than expected and it definitely hit me hard. Heat was there but the majority of the course was shaded. What would you do differently?: I have to make sure I take a GU with me on the run. I ran out of gas and it would probably benefit me to eat a GU at the first aid station to give me more energy to last through the entire run. That probably would have kept me going. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the pavilion waiting for results and drinking some water. I felt pretty good for the distance that I covered. Had to get moving pretty quickly because of all the guests at the house (Hurricane Evacuees) and my youngest son getting sick. What limited your ability to perform faster: I didn't eat enough. Ran out of gas in the middle of the run. Need to pack a GU in the shirt to take with me on the run so I can eat at the first aid station. Event comments: Great race. I loved the course. Wish the markings and signs around transition were cleared but I know that there were some items not done due to the very strong winds. I can't wait to run this race again next year. Very well done! GMP has set a very high bar for the way they put on a race! Last updated: 2016-09-28 12:00 AM

Woke up early as I had almost a 2 hour drive to the site. Normal breakfast. Got to the site and setup transition with no issues.
Got in the water and swam 50 yards or so. Loosened up the shoulders and go the initial water chill out of my system.
