Swim
Comments: About 100 yards from the start, I got kicked HARD in the face. the persons foot then went up my face and pulled my goggles off. I wear contacts, so I had to stop, pull the goggles back on and go again, I never got back into a smooth stroke. I was able to breathe bi-laterally the whole time though. I did not feel out of breath getting out. What would you do differently?: Not much other than not eat anyones feet. Transition 1
Comments: My rack was the last rack, so I had a long way to go. We had a narrow space to get through to get to our rack, only enough space for ONE person. There were two guys that were walking to their racks, so I was stuck behind them. To make it worse, not one, but two jackasses put bikes in the walk way, I had to step over the bikes and the stuff. When I saw Bonnie was already in T1 (we were in the same wave), I knew just how bad my swim was. I used her as my rabbit to get out of transition. What would you do differently?: My actual T1 was pretty quick, but the long way from the swim out to the bike start took almost 2 mins. If I had signed up as an AG'r my rack would have been near the front. I made this same mistake last year. Bike
Comments: This route was within 2 blocks of my house and is part of my regular Saturday morning ride route. I had home field advantage. I was able to keep a good strong pace. My highest speed was 27 mph. What would you do differently?: I will never, ever have another Cliff Gel Mocha (aka poop) flavor again! Not only did it taste disgusting, but the poop spilled all over my hand too....YUK!!!! Transition 2
Comments: Long run to my rack. I was quick to change and go, but then had the long run out of transition too. What would you do differently?: See T1. Run
Comments: I just could not find it in me to get to that point where the suffering starts. I just did not feel like going any faster. I think it was self pitty for having such a crappy swim. What would you do differently?: Run faster. Post race
Warm down: I got 2 waters, one to drink, the other for my head. I went to the finish line to wait for Bonnie. What limited your ability to perform faster: A crappy swim, the lots of negative thoughts for the rest of the race. Event comments: I started this race with the plan to place in my AG. I had my garmin on and had the pace alerts set for what I judged was a winning pace. After the kick during the swim, I just never mentally recovered. This was just not my day. This was my last sprint this season and I really wanted to end it with a bang, I don't even feel like it popped. Oh well, on to Ironstar training. Last updated: 2006-08-25 12:00 AM

Woke up around 4:30. Bonnie and I took our time getting water, and finalizing the bags. I drank a water bottle and ate a bagel with peanut butter.
We live close to the site, so we rode our bikes th 2 miles to the race site. I swam for about 10 mins. No run warm up (poor decision).
