Total Time = 8h 00m
Overall Rank = 281/867
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 32/65
Pre-race routine:

Up and had usual oatmeal.
Event warmup:

It was cold; coldest race I have done in my life. Living a mile from the start I arrived at the start 10 minutes before the race. Ran almost a half mile to the start. Too cold to warm up well.
Run
  • 1h 54m 40s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

The race was easily the best supported I have been in; F3 came out and manned to water stations. We had water every 1.5 miles (not that we needed it)
What would you do differently?:

over 2 and half minutes faster than last year. Wanted a 8:45 pace and nailed it. After a piriformis issue 18 months ago, I have struggled to get back were I was speed wise. But this was a strong effort
Post race
Warm down:

Kept moving; my wife came to the finish. I quickly changed my shirt and added some warm pants to stave off the cold. Did roll and stretch some.

Event comments:

The race numbers were up per registration; the conditions (was easily 15 degrees colder than average) reduced the actual race numbers. Very well organized race on a tough course. Very well supported with great police and volunteer presence

Performance: Good
My HR data was highly unreliable miles 7 to 10 were all high with a 8:16 coming home.
Course: the course is hilly; from mile 5.5 to 10 its just up and down. My right quad cramped coming down a hill. the last three miles are my local roads so that was motivating
