Swim
Comments: The swim felt really good, surprisingly. I was terrified of that nasty water! I just felt like I really had my groove on. About 250 to 500 meters into, though, I had trouble getting around other people and had to stop a few times since there was no where to go. At the end there was really thick nasty muck, I felt like swamp thing trying to get out of it! What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive without being a jerk. Is that possible? Transition 1
Comments: I had the second fastest transition in my group so I'd say it was pretty decent. Our transition area was near the furthest end so it wasn't as quick as I would have liked it to be. What would you do differently?: Run faster with my bike. Bike
Comments: Yes, I was numero uno on the bike, yeah! I passed lots of people which felt great. The course was past my neighborhood, so this was all familiar which really made it cool. What would you do differently?: In retrospect, I feel I could have pushed it more, especially now knowing that I missed first place by 59 seconds! I was passed only once by a guy. Don't get me wrong I was working it, but I'm sure I could have kicked it up a notch. I guess I didn't want to hurt too much. Transition 2
Comments: I had the quickest T2 in my group so that was really cool! I felt both transitions went really smoothly. I ran in and out of transitions and stood to switch shoes, grab my stuff and go! What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I had my Garmin on for the whole race, so I could see my pace throughout which was great. It felt like I was running soooo slow, but I guess I wasn't. If only I had pushed just a little harder.... What would you do differently?: Run faster! The lady with first place beat my run time by 1 min 12 sec. If I had known I could have just pushed a little more. The pace felt good, though. Post race
Warm down: I grabbed two bottled waters and a peach tea and chugged them all down. I didn't really stretch for some reason. I had a little sandwich and some pasta salad and also a couple of tina strawberry banana smoothie samples. What limited your ability to perform faster: I guess I just didn't want to suffer that much. I'm not sore at all, so I could have definitely pushed more. I'm thrilled with my 2nd place award! What a pleasant surprise. Event comments: I'm glad I did this race. I told Joe originally that I wouldn't do this race since it was in that nasty lake. But then they announced a new race site for 2006. So, I signed up, a nice new lake to swim in. When I found out the new race site wasn't ready and it would be back at the old site, I started getting nervous. Luckily, I didn't let it get the best of me. Despite the water conditions the race was put together really well, the volunteers were awesome and they really took care of us after the race, also. I love having such and aweome race right in my neighborhood:) Last updated: 2006-08-25 12:00 AM

The warm up was our 2 mile bike ride to the tri from our house.
