Run
Comments: I was seriously considering breaking up with the Brooklyn Half after 2017 because I've never had a good race here. Thankfully, it turned out to be a great day (thanks to my Coaches and my PT for the solid race strategy) and me and BK Half are gonna work it out. I was almost panicky about how slow I ran the first half, I think I saw a 7:20 split at one of the more uphill miles. But it all worked out. I hit mile 7 and was shocked (shocked!) I had so much fuel left in the tank. Lost a couple seconds on the ramp up to the boardwalk (argh! Crowds!) so that's where those :04 went, I think. Anyway.... I ended up only :04 off my PR, nailed a 1 min course PR and felt great from mile 7 to the finish (for the first time ever). I feel like I'm back, and it was nice to end my endurance race schedule on a reasonable high. Post race
Event comments: Good race. Weather's a bit of a crap shoot this time of year -- I've been through two super hot ones that also ended in massive rain storms -- but if you pace it properly (easy in the park, kill it on Ocean Parkway), this is definitely a PR course. Last updated: 2017-01-24 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4 a.m. Ate a banana and nibbled some peanut butter and jelly on a toasted English muffin. Yum.
Took the subway (which was predictably running with delays because of maintenance) along with the other bleary runners and others coming back from partying away their Friday nights.
Easy jog and some skips. Super crowded at the start and they don't let you run beyond the start line area where there's, you know, SPACE.
