Run
Comments: Overall I ran really well! It was a rolling course, so any small uphill was met with knowledge of a quick downhill. I think it was an overall downhill elevation so YAY. The main thing I did very poorly was I needed to use the potty (#1 but still) and waited too long. I waited for over 2 mins around mile 4 and then left when the line was not moving. I then found an agreeable line around 6-7 and took up another two mins between waiting and using. So, my time would have been much better. Although I joked that the rest and time to drink my Gatorade may have helped my pace when I was running. I finished very strong in the last portion and felt really "fit." I just need to execute better race strategy from now on. Or maybe this is just an inevitable issue now that I am over the hill? ;) What would you do differently?: Hydrate less? Post race
Warm down: Walked into race finish area and after getting my bag of stuff, I grabbed a beer in the beer garden. I made a HUGE mistake here not stretching. Just sat down and Facebooked. Event comments: Beautiful course and great job on organization. My only real regret was not having more potties on the course. The finish line area was very crowded, but really good energy. Old Town Alexandria was fun to run into. I would happily do this or another Pacers event again! Last updated: 2017-02-14 12:00 AM

Had to get to race start, since it was point to point. I took a Lyft to the pickup in Pentagon City. The busses were supposed to start at 5:30 and I arrived at 5:25 (rolling eyes). The bus didn't leave until 5:45. Needless to say, WAY too early. I was worried about getting a Lyft, but didn't need to be in DC. I was staying at an AirBnb by Dupont Circle.
We rode from Pentagon to Mount Vernon. The race setup was large and spreadout. I walked to the porta potty area and met a nice woman, with whom I talked the rest of the morning. I didn't discover until much later that they had space blankets, water and some food in a different area. That was so nice! We finally lined up and got going at 8. Long morning...
