Run
Comments: The run was good. The weather was near perfect. A little wind, but nothing too bad. My legs started to tighten up at ~mile 17. They were tight all the way to the finish. Tried to stretch a little on the course to no avail. I thought I set a PR, but I just looked and I missed it by 8 seconds...bummer. What would you do differently?: Actually run a 20 miler during training. Post race
Warm down: Fought the crowd to get to the bag pick-up. I didn't get a massage, mistake. I should have waited in the line. After picking up my bag, I just waited for the other folks from Dyess to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: I didn't follow the training program as much as I should have. Event comments: The race was good up until the finish. The logistics were terrible. There were spectators trying to meet their runner way too close to the finish area. The "meeting area" was atrocious. People were everywhere and you couldn't walk. The crowd support was AWESOME. It seemed like there were people cheering you on during the entire course. Of course there were also idiots crossing the street in front of you too. Not smart! Last updated: 2006-08-26 12:00 AM

Got up, showered, went to McDs to get an egg McMuffin and drove to the Metro. Got off at the Pentagon station to drop of my bag (it was ~1/2mi walk) went to the bathroom multiple times and walked to the start area (about another 1/2mile). Proceeded to use the restroom a couple more times and hung out near/in my start "corral".
Light stretching and moving around to keep warm. It was aboiut 40 - 42F at the start.
