Swim
Comments: When we started out I wanted to make sure to take it easier than I thought I needed to because I had not don a tri in 3 months, but I kept passing people. I didnt think this was right so I slowed down a little, which only made me ineffcient, so I sped back up. By the half way point I was already passing people in the wave infront of us, so I decided to push it just a little bit more until the end. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: I climbed up the ladder pretty easily and head to T1 with my swim PR in hand. I struggled to put on my tri top a little, but I still had a solid transition. What would you do differently?: Wear my top durring the swim. Bike
Comments: From the start of the bike I made the best mistake! I accidentally had my bike in the small ring. I dont like the small ring. Im a big stong guy who is above the small ring. Well as it turns out, thats completely wrong. I was effortlessly spinning though the first quarter of the bike before I realized this. This mistake led to a (very unexpected) PR on the bike by over 2mph! What would you do differently?: Train more, even though I did well my training was still lacking quite a bit. Not block because I got a 2min penalty for that, although I dont know where I blocked so its hard to figure out what I did wrong. Also it was my first time using my front wheel, and the brake rubbed the tire, so Id fix that. Transition 2
Comments: This went swimmingly except for trying to run with my helmet on, so I had to double back and take it off. What would you do differently?: Leave my helmet with my bike. Run
Comments: My time may look slow to whomever sees it, but Ive got news for you: I'm slow. In all seriousness this was a very servicable run for me and I ran the whole way (a first). I just wanted to fun on this part because I had already had a great day. I chit chatted with a few people and ended up singing to myself on most of the back. What would you do differently?: Train more. Post race
Warm down: After my sprint to the finish I got my finisher towel and went over to the grass incase I was going to have a "Reversal of fortune" as they say. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of trainig mainly. Event comments: After the rain stopped this turned out to be a great event. Perfect weather through out and the wet road didnt make much of a difference to me. I ended up getting a PR on the triathlon overall, which completely blew my mind. Plus I got to meet a couple of BTers. Last updated: 2006-08-27 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:45am and finished packing my things and watched sports center to catch up on Saturday's action that I missed while I was at the TCU/tceh game the day before, ate a clif bar and banana, and headed out only to find that we were in the middle of one heck of a thunder storm. I got to the race at around 6am to find out that there was no desision on whether we were going to race or not. I was about to just cut and run because I didnt feel prepared for the event, both physically and mentally, to begin with. However I decided to stick it out because of the PR on the swim I was sure I was going to get. After the rain let up everyone went down to the lake for the pre race announcements. I ended up not listening to them and petting the hyper yellow lab puppy that was playing next to me, and as it turned out is was Haley's (comet) dog Shiner, so I introduced myself to her and John (jcagg90) before heading down to the swim.
Nothing, unless you count standing in the rain for an hour as swimming.
