Swim
Comments: I got beat up some on the start/first 100 yards. kept running into feat and some guys were headed in 90 degree angles slamming into me. it was one of the roughest starts I've experienced. I soon got past all that and found my groove. I found myself stopping and sighting way too much. seems like I was zig-zagging more than normal. I really believe if I can figure out how to sight and swim at the same time, I can cut 2 min off my Oly swim time. What would you do differently?: learn to sight. Transition 1
Comments: I surpised myself here. I usually space-out in T1, but I was focused for this race. I had a little problem getting clipped, but didn't lose too much time. What would you do differently?: some day when I grow up, I want to learn the rubberband-shoe thing. Bike
Comments: last year I burned my legs out, so this year I took it ez. I took 1 GU at mile 5 and 1 at mile 20. 24 oz of Cytomax inbetween. I took 2 cliff bloks at mile 23 (at the car park field). Damn, I felt good coming into T2!! Saw everything from a dude in just a speedo to some women wrapped up with a winter coat! What would you do differently?: next year I'm going to go 10 minutes faster and still take it as ez!! when I grow up, I want a new tri bike! Transition 2
Comments: pulled out of my shoes with about 200 yards to go. there were maybe 5 riders backed up to wait to go through the timing mat, so I lost some time there. why don't they have wider mats? had some trouble pulling my laces tight. What would you do differently?: when I grow up, I want to have those elastic quick laces on my shoes! Run
Comments: I was soooo worried about this run. last year, I bonked and had a miserable time out on the hills. this year, I felt great!!! first mile was under 8, and I felt like I was crusing, so I knew if I could keep that pace, I could go under 50. I even passed some people!! I focused on reaching each mile marker. I ran through the first 3 breaks, and got either water or Cytomax on the remainder. my hammy began to hurt around mile 4, but I pushed through. I picked it up a little when I heard the race announcer and climbed that last little hill at the end! I crossed the finish line and my season was finished!! What would you do differently?: this was a good run for me, so NADATHANG!!! Post race
Warm down: Jeff and his friend were recovering at the finish line area, so I talked to them some and grabbed a Diet Coke and some Oreos. I was FREAKIN' COLD after I cooled down, so I headed back to the T area and got my warmups on. ran into Tom, Fred and Steve, we laughed some, and decided to eat lunch at Applebees. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was fun, so I refuse to answer! Event comments: this is such a great race, I wish all BTer's could come! Last updated: 2006-08-27 12:00 AM

woke up, had some blueberry yogurt and water, messed with my gear, and headed out the door. drove to the race site and parked about 1/2 mile away, found the woods for a quick pee, and was at the transition area around 7. hit the portapots, got the chip, and got the body marks. an older women marked me; she had to ask my number each time she marked me. LOL!!
ran into Tom and talked for bit, then headed out for a short run. it was freakin' cold, so I kept going and rode the bike some and hit the portapots one last time. ran into Jeff and his driver friend and chatted some, then it was time to suit up. ran into Fred and chatted some. took 1 GU, washed it down with Cytomax, headed down to the water and had about 10 minutes to warm up, or should I say, to linger in the water to stay warm!
