Run
Comments: Perfect weather and Windsor Locks Lions Club runs this. Been going on for 20 years but I've never done it. Used to be right at Bradley airport, I'm told, but they changed the venue a few years ago as state cops were needed and they had to pay overtime for them and it wasn't cost/effective. What would you do differently?: Push harder on mile 3. I was just starting to remember 5K pain and really couldn't dig myself down into the pain cave today. Post race
Warm down: walked jogged around for about 20 minutes What limited your ability to perform faster: knee injury and knowledge of how much racing 5K's hurt https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1679115073 Event comments: Beautiful weather and a reasonably flat course added to the venue. Cool to see a lot of athlete's with disabilities at the race. There were at least 3 or 4 blind athletes on the course! Last updated: 2017-04-16 12:00 AM

Up and did my usual routine-shower/coffee/500 calories 3 hours or so pre race-went with banana/RK treat/Boost and G2. Got there early and parked but felt tight and 'off' a bit. I know enough to not let that bother me and just went through the usual routine.
Easy jogging>few strides doing the first mile out/back then added some longer efforts up to a minute easing into tempo pace. Complete cool down and then learned that the 5K race goes off at 10:15, so a few more strides on the football field and walked to the start line.
