Swim
Comments: too much zig zag. Felt constricted in the arms and legs in full suit - maybe need to stretch it out a little? Hardly used legs; hardly went any faster than pool. Arms felt like they were flailing more than being smooth. Sighting played a big role in my discomfort. What would you do differently?: Do more open water swims to feel more comfortable. Work on sighting drills/techniques. Transition 1
Comments: Forgot to put shoes on clips. Had to stop at end of T1 to put on shoes. Did not wear socks. What would you do differently?: shoes on clips if possible. Bike
Comments: Had a gel at turnaround. May have benefited from more calories before the race. Transition 2
Comments: Satisfied with this transition Run
Comments: Loop profile = 1/2 mile flat, 1/4 mile uphill, 1/4 mile downhill. What would you do differently?: Go harder on the flats. Not disappointed since my speedwork has been nil due to hamstring injury. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited speedwork on run. No interval training on bike. Event comments: This race is a GEM! No stone was left unturned in the organization. They will not overdo it with pre-race information; it's a little old school / no-frills that way. The swim course was marked well and accurate, bike course was safe, smooth, and well-marked with volunteers or police at EVERY turn, and run course was well-staffed with volunteers again at every turn. Run is one mile loop with water at the beginning of the loop, a nice hill in the middle, and a nice downhill at the end. Last updated: 2017-05-12 12:00 AM
