Swim
Comments: Good swim overall. Seemed kinda long. I really feel my wetsuit is holding me back, after about the first 500 yards I wanted to strip it off. I really am think of cutting the arms and legs short What would you do differently?: More practice in the wetsuit?? Transition 1
Comments: Again, that damn wetsuit, going to cut the legs short. Little wobbly jumping on the bike, little congested and was going abit slow so not quite enough momentum to execute a flying bike mount cleanly. Bike
Comments: I felt strong on the bike and was passing quite a few folks, but a result of 140/167 is close to the back of the pack. Hills kinda got me even though they where challenging they where not the bad. What would you do differently?: I need to lose some weight personally and my 27yr old steel frame bike is simple not competitive. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty fast transition. Think I fumbled with the shoes for a brief moment. Run
Comments: Felt I had a decent pace, but was struggling just abit. Had to walk a couple times and walked through aid stations. Was pretty toasted by the end, got into a good finish line sprint with another person, he edged me out by about a second. Post race
Warm down: Note that overall results are for the mens category only as all results are broken into individual categories. Just walked around, had some water and food. What limited your ability to perform faster: I am still abit overweight and that holds me back. My wetsuit I believe is becoming a limiting factor to my swim. My old steel framed bike is simply not competitive with the modern bikes Event comments: This is my first time doing this race and it was a good challenge for an olympic distance. The medal really was pretty awesome, one of the nicest I have received yet. The scenery around the park is very welcoming. Although they do cheap out on materials such as bike tags and helmet stickers. The helmet sticker was paper based and tore apart trying to remove and is a mess on my helmet, the bike tag simply tore off on the bike on course. There was no electrolyte drinks on the run course. Had a 2 hour drive to the race, got there early, no stress. Got checked in, transition setup. Had time for team photos and use the restroom.
No real warm up other then getting in the water for a couple minutes.
