Comments: First tri since IM. First sprint in a couple years. I had gotten a few swims in but not enough to call it training. I was way right on start straight shot to first buoy. There was a few out front and we had lots of room until the finish. Then Jim wanted to go over top of me. We were 5 yds from the finish. We fought in to the stand part and come out together. I let him up as he runs faster and I knew I would be slower. Overall was a good swim. I thank my mom for all the lessons and getting us swimming early so it natural. What would you do differently?: Visit Master swimming more. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Hadn't done this for a while. IM you can take your time a little. This is get and go. It went well with things flowing smoothly. I have barefoot much so running in was hard and I ways in. Run out with bike was OK. Kinda forgot how to get on in a hurry. The worse part was trying to stay out of the way of the bikers trying to get their feet into their shoes. ![]() Bike
Comments: The bike been doing a little more of that. Still trying to get a fat guy to roll uphill takes a lot of effort. Rolling downhill much better. I was hoping for under and hour and got it. About 5 miles out I last the ability to shift to my big ring. That slowed me a little. Must of got past by 2 doz chicks in pink outfits of some kind. What would you do differently?: Drop the Twinkies I'm trying to pedal uphill. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Went ok. Had to sit to get shoes on. Ran out and it felt good. That would be short lived. ![]() Run
Comments: Flat but rough. Its all pitted pavement. I have been running that stretch for a number of years sometime twice. I will some day enjoy running on that stretch. I was walking and running. No plan just pick it up and then walk it some. Usually man the rest stop. Little sad not having music and bacon frying. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Met Y at the finish. Had to wait for water. Got a bagel and a chocolate ice cream cone for Y. Went and got bike. What limited your ability to perform faster: Twinkies, tacos, ice cream. Event comments: One of the best races around. Was locally owned and managed. Was sold out a few years ago. Still run very well but lost a little of its personality. Missed seeing Jeff around. Friday night packet pick though we had to pick up Y in the morning. Y got in from Alabama around 1:00am. Up at 6 to get Willie going. Left house 7:15. Got there with Y getting her packet about 8ish. Still got it. Set up transition in about 3 minutes if this.
Swim out to start line and joked with Jeremy about falling out of the kayak.
