Sunny
Total Time = 14h 27m 15s
Overall Rank = 77/130
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 3/7
Pre-race routine:

Woke at 3 am and ate 5 packets of oatmeal, one cup of applesauce and began hydrating.
Event warmup:

None, just wandered around transition.
Swim
  • 1h 33m 55s
  • 3862 meters
  • 02m 26s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was the roughest, most windy swim I have done though it really went about as well as I wanted it to.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe swim a bit harder but this was my first iron distance race so I probably conserved a bit more than I needed on each event.
Transition 1
  • 09m
Comments:

I really took it easy here making sure I went out on the bike comfortably. I also took a bathroom break.
What would you do differently?:

I could have gone more quickly and still accomplished my objective.
Bike
  • 6h 36m 54s
  • 112 miles
  • 16.93 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Go a bit harder.
Transition 2
  • 14m 20s
Comments:

This I took ridiculously slow. There really isn't any excuse other than I may have been dreading the run, which actually went pretty well. I did take another restroom break and forgot to get out of my bike shorts and into my run shorts so I had to go back and do that, which took additional time.
What would you do differently?:

Just get the heck out of T2!
Run
  • 5h 53m 9s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 13m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

I had a great first half and then I coasted the second half. It really was not necessary for me to go this slowly but it was my first iron race and I decided to take it easy.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I had a great time. However, at Ironman Arizona I will certainly go harder.
Post race
Warm down:

I grabbed my gear and headed to our friends house and took a nice shower and hit the sack.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

being a first timer at this distance I probably went a little too conservatively through the race.

Event comments:

Everyone should give the Redman a try. The race director and staff are truely there for the age-group athlete!
