Pre-race routine:

Got up in the morning and had a banana, oatmeal, and coffee. Took 4 sport legs caps and a gu roctane before the swim start. most of the time hung out with wife and people from stellar and team RWB.
Event warmup:

no warmup
Swim
  • 00m 56s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

course might have been a tiny bit shot <100 yards but there was heavy waves due to full moon
What would you do differently?:

nothing, pretty good swim overall. Olympic group got tore up by jelly fish, no issues for the sprint.
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

business as usual, with exception of taking gu in transition.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 39m 19s
  • 15.6 miles
  • 23.81 mile/hr
Comments:

2nd fastest bike ever in a tri, missed it by 18 seconds. there was a lot of overcast clouds which kept temperatures down. i might have over-hydrated on the bike because i felt sluggish on the run.
What would you do differently?:

take in less Gatorade endurance, took gu right before transition.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

came in and everyone had thrown there bike in my spot so i had to rack it 2 spots over. i put socks and newton tri nv^2 on instead on the newton tri racers because of blistering from last race. took a hotshot exiting transition to help prevent cramping.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, almost no time lost in t2 from past 2 races.
Run
  • 21m 24s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

best run of the 3 race tri series, still not where it should be but overall losing 10 pounds has made a significant impact. wore the new sugoi sleeved tri suit rs which allowed me to keep the top on just unzipped and wore the xterra trucker hat to help keep me cool. came out at 7:08 174bpm, then hit 7:16 177bpm, and closed with 7:27 180bpm.
What would you do differently?:

need more speed work to be able to hold it together at the end of the race.
Post race
Warm down:

watch friends finish, ate pizza, collected awards.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the heat and a few extra pounds

Event comments:

this race started at 7:00 to minimize heat impacts but also reduced the traffic on the road. continues to be a great series.
