Pre-race routine:

Up at 5 to leave at 6 to ride down. Was good timing. Tried to have a little oatmeal. Kinda forgot to eat it. Had some Stinger bites. Not a good thing. Should have just stuck to coffee. Sat around for a 2 hours waiting for my wave. Dead last. Toes were cold. It was 45deg when we got up.
Event warmup:

Took a couple of short sprints for 20-30 strokes and then we all got yelled at for being to far fwd. Well put a buoy out. Oh peed too.
  • 15m 11s
  • 724 meters
  • 02m 06s / 100 meters

Did not line up well. Cut on the inside corner. Started out well but got excited and did swim my race. Don't know if it would have changed anything. It was a fast crowd. I was a little slower but 6 guys in my group can in around 13.
What would you do differently?:

Train a little more. I have been lucky to swim 20k this year total. Gotta hit the pool more.
Transition 1
  • 02m 1s

Went well. Gotta remember that its glasses, helmet, shoes and bike is all I need.
  • 49m 45s
  • 13.3 miles
  • 16.04 mile/hr

Saw Y headed out of T1. Knew I catch her in a little bit. First mile'ish is a half of car lane. Got stuck there but was probably good to get the legs going. Rest was good.
What would you do differently?:

Stop eating all the cookies.
Transition 2
  • 03m 32s

Had to pee and get my tutu on.
  • 39m 46s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m 50s  min/mile

Not bad for a tri run with only couple runs for the last 3 weeks. Everyone cheers for the guy in the tutu. Love it. this a a lot of out back and half cheer me on. The other half look at me like WTF did I step into the Twilight Zone. I run with a tutu and tiara in honor of Annalise, little girl that died of brain cancer. We also do a 5k to raise money for research and family care. I saw her on the way out Lakeshore she was cheering me on. On the way back I got a nice hug she got a smelly, sweaty one. That took to the finish with a little more spring in my step. Y was gaining on me, can't have that.
What would you do differently?:

Could not get the calves loosened up.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited for Y.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

42.687 cookies.

Event comments:

Suffering a little as Tri's drop in popularity. Well run and good excitement and support from community.
