Pre-race routine:

Breakfast of yogurt + apple + granola. Sipped Nuun on the way there. Got to the race early, grabbed my packet, chatted with friends.
Event warmup:

Did a short run to get warmed up, .25-.5 miles, not sure. Did very thorough stretching since I've felt a bit tight lately.

Comments:

Kept a decent pace throughout, tried to keep my steps quick and light for the uphills. Passed some people, played cat and mouse with a lady in an orange shirt and a guy in an LS cotton shirt. Had a goal of staying with 'purple girl' but she got away from me a bit at the aid station (I slowed down for a drink) and then some of the hills. I later found out she got 3rd in our AG. Oh well!
What would you do differently?:

Eh, I suppose nothing. I could've maybe tried to stay with 'purple girl' but I had my hockey game in the evening to save some legs for.
Post race
Warm down:

Got some post-race snacks and water, then walked up the hill to watch for Cuda to come in and to get my drink from my car as well. I saw her coming so I grabbed my bottle and walked with her while she caught her breath then encouraged her to run in the last bit and I ran with her, peeling off before I got re-counted at the line (manual timing).

I will be back next year to do this race again to support the cause.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Eh, this wasn't a bad race for me but my weight and asthma surely add to my slowness. Plus I didn't want to totally gut myself since I had a hockey game to play that evening.

Event comments:

It was great to be able to support the Save a Warrior https://saveawarrior.org/home#what-is-save-a-warrior. The best part was they had warriors there who had gone through the program and gotten help. Also, we were told that the money raised from the race and donations would be enough to put 3 men or women through the program and get them the help they need. Good stuff!
