Run
Comments: It was a pretty good run. I hadn't run at all since Trenton three weeks ago, so I wasn't expecting much. I was definitely tight and it was hard to get a good pace going, though cardio-wise I never felt like I was over-doing it. Jeff and I managed to run together almost the whole time, but I didn't have any finish sprint in me, so I let him go at the end. What would you do differently?: Nothing. For a race I didn't train for, this was fine. My mental toughness has grown in leaps and bounds this past year - when I normally would have folded and started walking, it was no problem to just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I knew I'd seen worse. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the race site a bit, but since all the post-race food was completely gone by the time we got up there, we left pretty quickly after my mom finished to get snacks at home. What limited your ability to perform faster: No training. It was just a fun run with family on a holiday. Event comments: This is a great holiday race. The community really comes out and supports it, and you can feel the good vibes all the way through the course. My only complaint is that the post-race food is available pre-race, so there is nothing left by the end. I was able to snag one of the last available waters after I finished, but that was all that was available. Elaborate post-race celebrations aren't necessary on a holiday, but it would be nice if something were left for the later finishers. Last updated: 2017-12-03 12:00 AM

Clif bar and banana before driving over. Didn't bring water besides the elecrolyte water I had in my bottle for the race.
I did a short 10 min jog ending about 15 minutes before the start.
