Run
Comments: Ran with Steve for the first 5 or so miles. The trails were kinda beating him off. Lost him on a downhill as we neared the break off from the Squirrelly Six, and ran pretty hard from there, seeing how many people I could catch. As is my routine, I got lost (in the EXACT some spot as last year no less), which added roughly 1/2 mile and almost 4 minutes to my time. Tradition is tradition I suppose. Ran fairly angry after that and finished nice and strong. What would you do differently?: Not get lost. Cost me an age group spot and probably 4 overall places. Was really just out there having fun, but still frustrating. Post race
Warm down: Tried to get warm be the fire and got some warm food (yay veggie chili!) What limited your ability to perform faster: Getting lost. Not racing the whole way. Event comments: I love this event! The Halloween theme is really fun and ARE does a great job running it. There was some sadistic enjoyment running in the rain and mud too. Ate a normal race breakfast, then at the very last moment decided to go in costume after all (triathlete with aero helmet and everything). Then met up with Steve just outside the park to save on parking fees (ended up not being necessary).
Some jogging around, mostly just tried to stay dry and warm in the car before the start.
