Swim
Comments: This went a lot better than I was expecting. I was very pleased that they went with the self-seeding for the swim (vs. by age group). I was surprised there were not more people up front that did not belong there. They had everyone enter the water single file which helped prevent overcrowding early on. What would you do differently?: Practice more OWS and sighting. Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit strippers are the best thing ever. I was pretty gassed after the swim, so the loooooong run into transition from the water was a bit slower than it could have been. What would you do differently?: Not much really, wanted to take my time and be methodical. Maybe practice transitions more. Bike
Comments: Really was pretty confident I was not going to overcook like I did for NOLA. For the most part, that was the case. For some reason thought, my legs were jelly after I hopped off the bike and it was downhill from there. What would you do differently?: More training, but this was the most I'd ever trained. Just need to keep it up. Transition 2
Comments: I was pretty gassed after the bike. My legs were in bad shape and I was not looking forward to the run at all. What would you do differently?: Keep training, keep practicing transitions. Run
Comments: Ouch. Made it two miles, legs were already locking up. Started walking after that and the rest of the day was pretty miserable. What would you do differently?: Bricks....had zero in the run up to this race. Post race
Warm down: Walking around, then sitting. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training in hot weather. Maybe not taking four years off between races next time! Event comments: There's a reason this race has been put on for such a long time. Branded races always have incredible support, and this one was no exception. The volunteers were plentiful and awesome. Wish the post-race food had been something other than pizza! Last updated: 2018-04-03 12:00 AM

Woke up at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep. Finally got up around 3:45am, started drinking some water, and headed toward Cambridge around 4:15. Got everything set up in transition (slowly but surely, it'd been a while!), then waited for the swim start.
Nothing fancy here, just some nervous walking around.
