Pre-race routine:

Drive to Kelowna and set up in Transition.
Swim
  • 18m 16s
  • 700 meters
  • 02m 37s / 100 meters
Comments:

I made some rookie mistakes like jumping in to the pool without putting my goggles over my eyes, poor turns at the wall and slow pool exit all cost me some time otherwise the actual swimming felt pretty good.
What would you do differently?:

Next year I'll put my goggles on properly and I'll learn how to do flip turns just for this one swim.
Transition 1
  • 03m 54s
Comments:

Again I struggled with simple mistakes that slowed me down.
What would you do differently?:

Practice my transition routines.
Bike
  • 55m 26s
  • 22 kms
  • 23.81 km/hr
Comments:

I felt like I was moving at a good pace and I was even passing other cyclists so I was surprised to find my pace was slower than last year. My ride was as good as I could manage in spite of the conditions as they were this year.
What would you do differently?:

I have to find a way to push myself harder.
Transition 2
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

T2 was pretty normal.
What would you do differently?:

I could also be faster here - keep practicing.
Run
  • 35m 12s
  • 5 kms
  • 07m 02s  min/km
Comments:

I was a bit concerned about how sore I was as I started out on my run. My pace was slow and I had some pelvic stiffness coming off the bike but I kept running and pushed myself to run faster. By half way I was feeling better and was picking up my pace.
I ran up a short steep hill and a fellow told me it was 400m from the finish - and - it was downhill so I picked up my pace to what was a sprint to me and when I turned the last corner to see the finish line I again pushed my pace to finish strong.
What would you do differently?:

Train more and have fun.
Post race
Warm down:

I worked hard for the entire race but once I crossed the finish line I felt pretty good right away and enjoyed a Jugo Juice while talking to my wife and other athletes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I made some silly mistakes that I need to fix for my next race.

Event comments:

This is a really nice Sprint. Well organized and popular especially as a season starter. Also popular with beginner triathletes.
