Swim
Comments: Swim was tough. Water was disgusting. Algae everywhere. So murky that I couldn't see my hand when i extended my arm. First half was tough, with sun on the right side,,which made sighting more difficult. Navigation was off over the second half as I got tired. Never pushed, and was relatively pleased wiht my time when i got out, and I still felt pretty fresh for the bike What would you do differently?: sight better Transition 1
Comments: T1 wasn't too bad. Wetsuit got stuck on my heels a bit What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Ride went OK. I never pushed, wanting to save some for the run. My goal was to be at 20mph or faster, and I just missed it. Only got passed by a handful of people, though, and I passed several of them back by the end. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: T2 went better than T1, nothing too bad What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Tough run. Felt good for the first mile, but then the hills hit, and once I hit mile 3-4 with no shade, I about died. Managed to run from rest stop to rest stop, walking while drinking 2 cups of water at each. Slowed a bit, but not too badly over the second half. I was glad to be done though! What would you do differently?: noting Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: heat and lack of training Event comments: This is always a great race. This was my first time to do it in 5 years. There were only ~220 racers, adn in the past, there have been more than 1000. I'm not sure why the drastic drop in numbers, because it's still a fast course and a very well run race. Very organized, good T shirt, great food afterwards (bbq) and beer. I'll continue to do it. Last updated: 2018-05-13 12:00 AM
