Precipitation
Total Time = 2h 36m 3s
Overall Rank = 49/181
Age Group = M40-44
Age Group Rank = 6/18
Pre-race routine:

Stayed at Super 8 a few miles away. Dressed and ate oatmeal at hotel. Drove to race site. Set up transition with shes in plastic bag due to rain.
Swim
  • 29m 23s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 58s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was surprised at how open the swim was. Only late in the second lap did it get congested. The water was really nice. It was clear and a good temp with a wetsuit. The swim went pretty well considering I haven' swum a lot this spring.
Transition 1
  • 03m 50s
Comments:

It's probably a quarter mile or so to transition from the swim. I felt good after the swim and ran to transition, passing a lot of people on the way.
Bike
  • 1h 12m 24s
  • 24 miles
  • 19.89 mile/hr
Comments:

I tried to go pretty hard on the bike. I had to take the corners a bit easy due to wet roads and rain.
What would you do differently?:

My rear cassette was loose from when I put the wheel cover on. Shifting would have been better if I had put that back on more tightly.
Transition 2
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

This went well.
Run
  • 48m 32s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 51s  min/km
Comments:

Miles 1-2 and 4 were a little slow. I negative split the run by pushing the last two miles. I probably could have gone a bit faster if I hadn't started the first two miles as slowly. I haven't had a race with a good run in a while.
What would you do differently?:

Push the pace more, especially early.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank some water and a Coke. Found the lunch and then went home.

Event comments:

This is another good race put on by Kinetic Multisports (VTS-MTS). The course is nice with a flat swim, rolling bike, and scenic run. The smooth roads of the bike course are really nice.
