  • 440 yards
  • 01m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was easy...it was getting out onto the pontoon in that swift current that was hard. OOH boy!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I'm happy
Transition 1
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

One of my better transitions.
Bike
  • 47m 21s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.01 mile/hr
Comments:

I enjoyed the bike but I either overdid it or it was just too hot/humid for me.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Good flow.
Run
  • 32m 8s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

That was a horrible run for me. I didn't feel great and I was having a bad foot day.
What would you do differently?:

I'm going to have to get my foot looked at. It's been 8 years since the artificial joint went in and I'm wondering how much that is taking a toll.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking as best I could. Cooled myself down by standing in the fountain, as many others did. THAT felt great, as I felt overheated!! Also sat in the air conditioned room with an ice pack on my foot while I stretched other body parts, and drank a lot of water to rehydrate.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lots of stuff. At the end of the day, though, I'm not in the best shape I could be.

Event comments:

This was the first year this race was done in the river, and it had to be a time trial start to boot so results took extra long to come up. Awards didn't happen until 11:30 in the morning for a 7:30am sprint race! And since I'm in an "old lady age group" it took longer. Since I felt overheated after the race I really didn't want to keep hanging around but as we waited they kept saying results would be in "just a few minutes". I hope the growing pains of this new venue get ironed out before the next race in the series.

On the positive side, a very nice volunteer brought me a huge zip lock baggie of ice for my foot. There was also a nice spread of food and lots of water for rehydration. Also the trophies were nice beer glasses with the race logo and my place written on it.

Course: Down the Riverwalk, for the most part. Unfortunately there was a part where we had to run up a ramp (both down and back) to traverse a bridge. I had never been to that part of town so I didn't know it. Lovely surprise looming in the morning sun! I was also very hot and tired. That's why I think I may have overdone the bike. I had to Galloway most of this run, so 2:00 jog/1:00 walk.
