Swim
Comments: Despite the slow pace, I wasn't unhappy with this. I'm only recently gotten back in the pool in a serious way. The start was self-seeding and individual start and I started near the back and didn't notice people blowing my me. I happened to get in the water the same time as someone exactly the same speed as me. We bumped each other the entire time, neither ever passing the other. What would you do differently?: start training earlier. Transition 1
Comments: I was a little disoriented after the swim since I haven't done it in a while. Ran best I could but spent longer than I should have trying to get grass off my feet. Bike
Comments: As I was leaving T1, I heard someone tell another racer that their helmet was on backwards. Somehow this made me paranoid that the same was true for me. I ended up stopping just after the start, removing my helmet and checking! Stupid. All was OK so I wasted some time there. Otherwise, I felt OK on the bike considering I had a 2 hour ride the day before. Had a gel as I was getting off the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Much faster T2! Run
Comments: Hilly and unpaved dirt road run which sucked. It also started getting hot. Despite this, I passed several people though not many in my age group. It felt OK, slower than desired, but not back. Post race
Warm down: Nothing really. Went to the tent for 4 hour old Papa Johns :( However, the tri club following was a lot of fun. Event comments: First race in a while. Well-run and a triangle staple. Last updated: 2018-06-29 12:00 AM

Up at 5:00 AM to get to the race site on time to pick up my packet etc. Some context - I just started my tri season and this was my first race since June of 2017. I've started training for a late season 70.3 and didn't do any tapering for this race. Also, no open water swimming or brick sessions since June of 2017.
Brief swim in the lake and a gel 10 minutes prior to start. Overall rank is men only
