Event warmup:

little bit of swimming
Swim
  • 06m 43s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

Official results listed my pace as 6:32/100, which seems more accurate than the pace listed above
Wasn't used to crowds. Lots of jostling. Wasn't able to get close to buoys. Didn't feel as strong in the water as I anticipated. Still, it was pretty strong compared to the field.
Transition 1
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

Not much to say. Could have been a bit faster, but no glaring problems.
What would you do differently?:

Practice a bit more.
Bike
  • 59m 13s
  • 22.5 miles
  • 22.80 mile/hr
Comments:

Race results say 21.6 mph average.
Took a few miles to get into a groove. Then found myself in a pack of sprint and 1/2 riders. Tried not to draft, but must have gotten something. Pack's pace was higher than I probably would have done on my own, but it wasn't too strenuous. At sprint/half split, I lost contact with the sprint cyclists. Last 5 miles, I started to tire and could feel my hams tightening up. Out of aero bars a bit more then. Still, pretty decent overall. Very happy with average speed.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Runing out of steam. Maybe elastic laces are too tight, but I flopped down on my ass when I couldn't pull my shoes on right away. Ran wrong direction when I couldn't remember which way was out. Hams hurt, plodding pace.
What would you do differently?:

Train the run. Maybe more bricks. looser laces? Know the transition area.
Run
  • 26m 13s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Sucked. My run is garbage. Hams were tight. Just plodded along. Occasionally felt a little better after the first mile, but it was all I could do just to keep going. Was begging for the end to come. The hills at the end just about killed me
What would you do differently?:

run run run run. Know the exact route, especially for the finish.
Post race
Warm down:

Collapse

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training, running especially

Event comments:

Very well organized. LOTS of racers between sprint and 1/2. The bike was too long for a sprint. Great bike porn here.
