Overcast
Total Time = 3h 04m 8s
Overall Rank = 229/386
Age Group = M50-54
Age Group Rank = 18/21
Event warmup:

Did maybe 300m or so of swimmming.
Swim
  • 34m 31s
  • 1460 meters
  • 02m 22s / 100 meters
Comments:

I hadn't been in the water in the 3 weeks since my last tri, so I didn't have high hopes for a good finish. I actually feel like this was a pretty decent swim for how little training I've done this year.
What would you do differently?:

Train more!
Transition 1
  • 04m 22s
Comments:

There is a fairly long run from the beach to the transition area, but my T1 was still slow. I had some trouble getting my legs (feet, really) out of my wetsuit. I can't really pinpoint one thing that was specifically bad other than the wetsuit. I knew I was taking my sweet time and it showed.
What would you do differently?:

I guess I need to practice getting out of my wetsuit. I'm a little heavier than last year, so the extra weight is making the suit a little tighter and harder to get out of.
Bike
  • 1h 25m 4s
  • 24.7 miles
  • 17.42 mile/hr
Comments:

I knew my training was spotty. I fully expected this would be one of my slowest Oly bike segments and it turned out to be true. I was only over my predicted time by maybe 1:30, and I stopped at an aid station for at least 30 seconds, so I was pretty close to my expectations.
What would you do differently?:

Train more! Again!
Transition 2
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

I can't pinpoint anything particular about T2 that was bad. My T2 rank is in line with the rest of my race.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, T2 wasn't too bad.
Run
  • 58m 16s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 50s  min/km
Comments:

Despite being on the slow side for my 10K time, this was actually by best sport on the day (in terms of rank). The hills were tough and I walked several times.
What would you do differently?:

Uh, train more!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training. My commitment has been weak. The weather has been hot and humid, forcing me to do many of my workouts inside on the trainer or treadmill. Plus, between home life and being busy at work, I've had less energy and time to devote to training.

Event comments:

I didn't have a good performance, but this was still a good race. Plenty of volunteers and the race was run pretty well. It's a very scenic area and a great choice for a race.
