Run
Comments: The race started up a dirt road along a creek then narrowed down to a single track while dodging cow patties. At the end of the creek the course went pretty much straight up a hill on an improvised trail. This climb was steep yet mercifully short compared to the later ascents. At the top the course transitioned onto a fire road for the rest of the first hill followed by a fun downhill. The shortest overall climb was next as it went up a fire road then back down. I power hiked most of the climbs, running when it would level out and on the downhills. The third hill was a steady climb up to the tree line about 1000' above sea level. Along the ridge the scenery was excellent and made up for the simple meadows in the valley below. After a couple miles along the ridge it was time to head back down. A long descent back down to (nearly) sea level made for a fun run however was tough on my legs. Near the end of the course a couple small hills felt like mountains to my tired legs. Finally the finish line was in sight and I pushed myself to cross the finish line at a running pace. What would you do differently?: Overall a good race based on my training level. Post race
Warm down: Stretched my legs and re-hydrated. Event comments: Great views along the top made the long climbs worth while. Supportive volunteers and a nice (yet small) after race festival made for a fun event. Last updated: 2018-09-05 12:00 AM

Enjoyed my traditional pre-race sushi dinner and an early night, big run in the morning!
Drove out to the event location a bit early to get checked in before the crowds. Stretched my legs and talked with a few friends also running.
