Run
Comments: I was originally entered for the full marathon but suffered a R) medial meniscus inflammation 5 weeks out from the race. This meant significant load management with rest and 4 runs on the anti-gravity treadmill at the local physiotherapist that once again saved my bacon. Based on my limited running on the AG treadmill, I thought a pace of 5min/km would be the best I could maintain for the race.Totally surprised myself by averaging 4:44min/km - and the course is hilly! Perhaps the idea is to have a loooooong pre-race taper? ;-) Split..........Split Time....S/Rank...Race Time........R/Rank.....Dist........Pace 5KM.........00:23:36.....450........00:23:36.........450..........5.00....04:43 10KM.......00:23:22.....466........00:46:58.........400.........5.00......04:40 15KM.......00:23:07.....415........01:10:06.........399.........5.00.......04:37 20KM....... With only 7 runs in the 5 weeks leading up to the race due to knee injury and prior to that I was doing no fast pace work as I was expecting to run the full marathon, its hard to say what to do better. Post race
Event comments: Brilliant race - as usual! Very scenic course and very well organised. Will return again in 2020. Last updated: 2018-11-09 12:00 AM
