Comments:

struggled to get comfortable for the first 500 meters. Rest of the swim went smoothly. Swam wide on the back half of the second loop. Long run-up to transitions!!

Upper back was tired from the swim making it tough to settle into the aero bars for the first lap and putting extra strain on my lower back. Long, straight roads with lots of false flat was a mental struggle! Had to sit up or stand on the pedals to stretch often costing me speed. Ate and drank well. Stopped at mile 45 to refill bottles

Comments:

First 5 miles were a breeze! Legs felt great! Then I just seemed to run out of energy at mile 5. Temps were hot, mid 90's. Had to stop at aid stations to put ice under my hat, in my bra and douse myself with water. Ate well and drank well. Legs felt stiff and sluggish for the last lap and feet hurt. Focused on counting steps, running for 60 and walking for 30.
