Run
Comments: just locked into my training pace and stayed there. Actually started about a 10:30 pace and then kept inching up. Found a group of three that were running together and stayed with them. two had run a 1/2 mary before and I thought they would be good to pace with. I think they were starting to get a little winded toward the end and that may have hurt my time a little. They were so nice I didn't want to abandon them at the end. As far as my cardio and my muscles, I felt great the entire race. I never felt winded or fatigued at all. I didn't wear a heart-rate monitor, but I'm guessing my heartrate was pretty low. My knees did started hurting abit about 9 or 10. However it really wasn't that bad. I think this might have been helped by staying near the crown of road whenever I could. What would you do differently?: Push the pace, now that I know I can do the distance. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit and stretched a little. Watched other people get age-group awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of confidence in my ability to finish and my knees Event comments: well put on race, music on course was a nice touch. Race started a little late because of fog. Overall I was real pleased with where my current fitness is. Originally I wasn't sure I could complete this distance. In fact this limited my performance. Because I think could have made 2 hours pretty easily. However, I'm happy I exceeded my expectations and accomplished a goal that used to seem impossible. Last updated: 2006-09-03 12:00 AM
