Pre-race routine:

Drove with the family early to get there for a good parking spot. Had plenty of time. They assigned bike racks from your race number -got a great spot and set up. Drank 1/2 a Huel before leaving the house. Drank a few more swigs before the event. Made sure to use the potty ahead of time.
Event warmup:

Rode my bike up the main road and set the gears. Changed to running shoes and did some light jogging. Otherwise, stood around and waiting in the waves to start.

What would you do differently?:

I swam off course rounding the 1st bouy. Need to do better at sighting. Also went out so hard on the run that my heart rate was too high. Had to slow my swim to catch my breath. Be more steady and not so all over the place on effort level.

What would you do differently?:

Overall really pleased with my bike. I was too slow at the turnarounds and got caught up behind slower bikers.

What would you do differently?:

try to go harder at the end. I didn't realize how well I had actually done and didn't really race all the way thru the finish shoot.

Love this event. Great for lades of all abilities. Lots of beginners. Great course, support and overall fantastic event. Looking forward to 2019

Course: Water was at a 30 year low and it was mud leading out from the beach. They had us wade out into the water and we we had to jog to start until the water got deep enough to swim. caused my heart rate to go up from the start pretty high
