Comments: That's the first time I can write 'Good' for all the performances of the swim. Started on the left and dove in and did 2:1 breathing for 30 strokes to get past the non-wetsuit peeps. Then I settled in and kept a straight line and actually drafted a bit. Also passed people on the left-that's new. Rounded the 1st buoy and got kicked and didn't let it bother me at all. Swam right past him on the left as soon as it opened up. What would you do differently?: Nothing! ![]() Transition 1
Comments: So I could have been a bit faster but my foot was immediately sore from the wood chips we had to run on. I didn't find out 'til much later that I cut my foot. Also the wetsuit got stuck on the timing chip leg and took a few extra tugs. Then I messed up the Garmin clicking multiple times and messed up the entire multisport. What would you do differently?: Be a bit better prepared. Didn't hit my goal of 50 sec, but was close. ![]() Bike
Comments: Would have like to see my power data, Next time, I'll go with both the 910 and 920 and keep the 920 on my wrist. 1AG and 4OA on the bike makes me happy. At least my chain didn't jump like it did 2 years ago-little did I know it was from a broken frame-probably best I didn't know at the time... What would you do differently?: Use my extra Garmin 910XT ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I was able to take my helmet off and shoes off at the same time-that is an art, but then sat down and fell over onto my side 'cuz I'm uncoordinated. Must have looked funny. Popped my run shoes on, grabbed my stuff and I was out of there. Pretty close to my goal of 40 sec. What would you do differently?: Not much. ![]() Run
Comments: Surprised that I was 13 OA. Number one in my AG flew past me and beat me by like 2 minutes so the good news is that even if I hit my goal and ran a minute faster, he still would have CRUSHED me. What would you do differently?: Not run a 5K with VF's just prior to an 'A' triathlon race. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Just hung around waiting for awards, changed into shorts and took out contacts. Ate something and texted Denise and Bobby. DW won her match and was walking on water/air. Bobby is getting ready for part 2 of the Norseman with a LR on the TM. What limited your ability to perform faster: Recent ankle/shin injury. Event comments: I am sad to hear that this will be the last race year for FIRM. They put on quality events, or did... Last updated: 2019-07-06 12:00 AM

tried to be consistent and do the usual stuff, but I realized that I left all my pre-race nutrition at home! fortunately, I usually have everything that I use in my truck-pop tarts, RK treat, Boost HN, Choc Chip Granola Bar, G2 all right there, just cost me an extra walk from the hotel room. Took ice with me to put in the G2 with nuun. My truck is misfiring and running like shit so I was lucky to make it and also needed to get air in my tires due to slow leaks in two of them-one had 8 pounds of pressure in it. But, got my coffee/BR/food all in and drove uneventfully to the venue.
Set up transition and had to go back to the truck 3 different times; Contacts/flip flops and then get wetsuit. I talked with people about the directions of In/Out. Took my flip flops and both my Lava Pants and Roka Sleeveless down to the water for a warm up swim. Decided to go with the wetsuit.
