Swim
  • 09m 26s
  • 440 yards

Comments:

Sprint triathlon, big AG mass start and a short swim equals very crowded the entire time. I had people swimming on top of me the entire time. Water was wet suit legal. The start and finish is a rocky bottom to the lake which is not super comfortable on the feet. Otherwsie, just a normal triathlon swim for me.

Comments:

This was a great bike for me. Limited bike training this summer so I wasn't sure what kind of race I had in me. Legs felt good and I was cranking through the course and competing with another woman almost the whole time. We were going back and forth of who was in the lead. I pulled away from her the last few miles of the bike and stay ahead of her the rest of the race. It was great to have someone out there really pounding away. Kept me super motivated to keep pushing hard.
Transition 2

Fast t2!
Run
  • 23m 52s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

This run is flat and fast. We leave the transition area and run along the lake for 1.5 miles, turn around and come back. There were quite a few fans out on the course and multiple water stops for a short run. Legs felt amazingly OK considering my fast bike split.

Post race
Warm down:

My brother was up there and chatted with him for awhile as I cooled down. His girlfriend was racing the half IM so she was still on the bike when I left. I just didn't have the energy to hang out at the race site for much longer.
Was super happy to see that I got 3rd in my AG and it was a decent size AG. Was also super happy to see that I was about 1 minute faster than my 2017 time. 2019 is turning out to be a fairly decent race year for me. One more triathlon in August with the YWCA women's tri. That is definitely my "A" race for the summer. Planning to bike more for the next few weeks and maybe do some speed work mixed in some of my running.

Event comments:

Chisago puts on a great race. The transition area, park, city is well set up for a triathlon. The roads for the bike route aren't closed but it feels safe. The bike course is fast! I will be back
