Swim
Comments: Swim went well for the most part. Started off strong, was the first in our wave to the turn buoy after a couple of hunbdred yards. Kept it nice and steady adn felt great all down the back stratch of hte swim. Turned left, looking dead into the sun, and couldn't see the next buoy. I had caught the younger wave that had started 3 min ahead. I followed them and after another 100-150 yards, I realized I was way off course. Had to make a 45deg turn to get back to the bupy that I could now see. Other than that, which cost me some time, I thought the swim went very well. I pushed comfortably hard the whole way. Swam in a straight line for the most part, I just picked the wrong line for a bit. What would you do differently?: Take more time and find the buoy! Transition 1
Comments: Decent T1. Short run up from the water. Couldn't get helmet fastened for 3-4 sec, but pretty fast T1. 12th fastest T1, and could've shaved 5 sec off easily What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: The course was terrible. Horrible pavement the entire way. Lots of twists and turns, with loose gravel in the corners, so you had to be very conservative. Several big downhills that ended abruptly in a 90 degree turn. And it was short by about 4 miles. I about got ejected off aeorbars several times in the first half of the ride. I stayed upright for most of hte second half. IF I do this one again, I will ride road bike for safety purposes What would you do differently?: ride the road bike, not the tri bike Transition 2
Comments: This went well What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: The run went pretty well. Not great. Very hilly course, I did walk a couple of the bugger uphills. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: walked around a bit, drank some thing adn got a snack What limited your ability to perform faster: rough pavement was the biggest problem Event comments: The race was fine. Above the Fold always puts on a great race. The venue was nice, lots of parking, Transition close to the water. The bike course was terrible though. Bad pavement the entire route, lots of twists and turns, and not really knowing the course, I couldn't take advantage of the downhills because I often couldn't see around the curves to know what was ahead. There were a couple of big downhills with a sharp turn at the bottom. Several curves with loose gravel in the road, too. Pavement was so rough I had a hard time staying in aerobars, as I was afraid of getting bounced off. Run was tough but fair. pot race spread was great. Last updated: 2019-09-14 12:00 AM
