Pre-race routine:

Last race of the season for me (probably). First time running this regional Grand Prix Series final with my club team in three years. Fully healthy for the first time since reinjuring my back in early August.

Did a series of fairly light intensity 0.25 mile runs.

Ran in Men's Masters division 8K race (all men 40+, started with Women's Masters 6K race), competing in Grand Master (50+) subdivision..

Healthy enough to be the fastest of my club's 4 Grand Masters men and 3 GM women, first time for that in 3 times at this event. As always, finished absolutely middle of very, very, stacked masters field (cash on the line at this race).
What would you do differently?:

Not have a back injury from August through October...no speedwork as a result.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of speed training due to injury.

Event comments:

Final event in the USATF SoCal regional Cross Country Grand Prix Series. Attracts most of the top amateur runners in the area. Prize money for both series individual and team winners.
