Total Time = 1h 30m 58s
Overall Rank = 241/512
Age Group = 40-45
Age Group Rank = 53/86
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast of small bowl of wheaties with blueberries and 20oz. Gatorade.
Event warmup:

Parking was 1.5 miles from transition. We arrived at the race with what we thought was plenty of time but by the time we made it the transition area, they were already anouncing less than 12 minutes until the transition area closes. Also, the start of the swim was a little ways away from the transition. Ended up getting everything setup and getting to the starting line with plenty of time to spare but had that feeling I was forgetting something.
Swim
  • 17m 13s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got beat up by consecutive waves going out and ended up getting tossed around pretty good. Fighting the feeling of panic on the way out but after rounding 1st bouy, got into a good stroke and got breathing under control.
What would you do differently?:

Probably should have dove deeper under waves
Transition 1
  • 04m 31s
Comments:

Hill going up from beach to T1 was a bitch! Ended up walking 90% just trying to catch breath from the swim. Found transition spot quickly and changed pretty quickly but I know I can still shave time in T1.
What would you do differently?:

Be a little quicker changing. Probably wasted seconds by not getting right to work when I got to spot.
Bike
  • 43m 16s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.64 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall felt pretty good.
What would you do differently?:

Probably should have pushed this more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Did this one pretty well.
What would you do differently?:

Not much just try and be faster
Run
  • 24m 1s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

Probably benifited from not pushing hard enough on the bike segment but I am really happy with the run. Started to cramp in the 1st mile but pushed through it. Ran the sand area hard and passed a bunch of people and gained ground on a lot of people walking. The hill was tough. Told myself to run the entire hill but only made it 90% of the way up. Crested the hill and got into a good stride in. Very good feeling going into the finish line. The spectators were in pretty tight and made it feel like there was a lot of people which was motivating to finish strong.
What would you do differently?:

Probably could have pushed a bit harder early on in the run.
Post race
Warm down:

1.5 mile walk back to the car

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still need to lose weight.

Event comments:

Very good race! Would have been nice to have some mile markers on the run.
