Swim
  • 06m 59s
  • 275 yards
  • 02m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

Solid swim, came out with a better than anticipated time. Followed my stroking plan pretty much to the letter. Seemed like I was reaching the walls much faster than I expected.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, good swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

Location was all the way in the back, almost as far from the Swim in entrance as possible. Jogged the whole way. Pretty solid T1.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 38m 29s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 17.93 mile/hr
Comments:

Solid bike ride, Felt fast on the first loop, little slower second time around but I think they were actually pretty comparable. One long pretty tough hill, handled it well, I thought. Rode "easy" for first five minutes, then pushed at race pace for the next 30. Finished more or less coming up that long hill, bled off a little time getting shoes undone and feet out.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

First race with the new Zoot shoes. I thought they worked pretty well, though my feet were kind of like little ice blocks coming off the bike. Right little toe kept getting caught in a separation of the lining while trying to get the shoe on. Happened twice so I finally just sat down to get the shoe on properly, probably cost me 15-25 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Need to practice getting the right shoe on. Can't balance on left leg like I can on my right, so this shoe is always difficult. If I get this on without the little toe issues, I beat previous (adjusted) time.
Run
  • 34m 4s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

At this point I'm just hoping to get a 5K done in roughly 34 minutes, so mission accomplished here, sort of. Garmin showed I ran 3.18, for a pace of 10:43. Sure seems I could do better than that, but afterwards, the device said I "Overreached" for the day!
What would you do differently?:

Just keep training, I guess. Last 2-3 tri seasons my runs have gotten consistency slower. Probably be complaining about it next year too.
Post race
Event comments:

Only slightly late, about five minutes, while they waited for police authorities to get into position and clear the course. Otherwise another classic DAR operation.
