Event warmup:

Swam 100m
Swim
  • 13m 2s
  • 800 meters
  • 01m 38s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim a went OK. Navigated much better than last time. I had to pee though, and couldn’t do so without just stopping and treading water. had to go twice! Overall, felt like I never pushed, was only 17 sec off my goal, and stopped twice. Not too bad
What would you do differently?:

Pee before the start. I had gone when I warmed up, but then had over an hour before starting. Shoulld’ve gone again.
Transition 1
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

T1 went well. No major issues. got the swimskin off pretty easily
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 46m 30s
  • 16 miles
  • 20.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Ride went pretty well. The road was horrible. Lots of potholes and large seams which made it hard to get in a rhythm.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Felt like I rode well. My GPS said I averaged 21.3mph and was a little over 16.5 miles. Normalized power was 223, right at 80% FTW. I could've pushed a little harder, but wanted to save a little for the run
Transition 2
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

No p[roblems in T2. No socks for a short 4 mile run
Run
  • 31m 6s
  • 4 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Run went pretty welll. As soon as I got off the bike, I had to pee again. I thought it would pass, but after about a 1/3 mile, I knew I needed to stop. I pulled off into the woods and must’ve peed a liter. Took at least 30 sec. felt much better afterwards and kept a solid pace, walking for a few seconds ate each water stop, but otherwise kept it steady.
What would you do differently?:

Npthing
Post race
Warm down:

Drank some Gatorade, and rode the 2 miles back home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Needing to pee the whole way

Event comments:

Race started at 6:30. They didn’t announce that all of the women would start first and that the men wouldn’t start until the women were out of the water. Men didn’t start unti l7:35 or so. They asked everyone to line up numerically, but no one did so. I finally got in about 745.
