Swim
Comments: Quite happy with my swim, managed to find my place quite easily, no panic at the start, found some feet. If I believe my watch though, I swam more than I should What would you do differently?: Work on sighting and follow the buoys rather than other swimmers Transition 1
Comments: When I tell people I do triathlon, they often ask me what I am best at, they expect me to say swim, bike or run. No, THIS is what I am best at. 4th best time out of the 392 participants. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Good bike, averaging over 30k/h as planned. Transition 2
Comments: I am better at T1 but a good T2 nonetheless Run
Comments: After totally giving up on the run at my last race, I was determined not to let it happen this time. with insight, I think I did overcook the bike last time which was much tougher. today I came off the bike with fresh legs and I was able to keep a 5:15 pace all through. Large crowds everywhere cheering you on while drinking beer (we run through the town center and the restaurants/bars are packed) give you wings What would you do differently?: I should really be able to maintain a 5 min/k pace over 4k, push a little more? Post race
Warm down: collected medal and t shirt, ate a banana and had a drink then picked up my bike and stuff and drove home Event comments: A fun race by the Ironman people. what a party! coming through the same finish line as the Ironman athletes will tomorrow, with crowds cheering is a lot of fun. almost makes me consider doing an IM....
