Run
Comments: Wasn't sure what to expect here, given the minimal running since Kona. Plan was to go out with feel, and if things going well to see how fast I could go. Course sets up well to negative split the 5ks, with a net uphill first, and net downhill last. Went 19:13, 18:41, 18:04 so I'd saying pacing was if anything too conservative. Crazy considering if anything I thought the first 5k was too fast, but I felt good so just kept with it. Had a young man just ahead of me for the whole race, so keyed in on him when we entered the park. Made contact on the hills coming out of it, but then he pulled away slightly on the downhills to the graveyard. I reattached and stayed behind him for a couple minutes, before making my move before the downhill section to the finish. Turns out that big push got me to slide in under 56 minutes for a massive PR! What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little, did some stretching in the gym. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing Event comments: Fun to have such a popular race this close to home. Crazy how it seems like every local runner was here. And such a fast field, 85 people under 1 hour! Last updated: 2022-11-13 12:00 AM
