Run
Comments: I had worked out that I needed to keep an average pace of under 5:13 min per km if I wanted to break my record so I decided for a 5:10 pace to have a little margin. The plan was a negative split, with 5:15 the first 3k, 5:10 the next 3 and 5:05 or faster the last 4. Started too fast but it felt good so I did not make myself slow down and the first 3 k went fast, under 15 minutes Good thing I didn’t slow down at the start because the next 2 or 3k had quite a bit of elevation (I had forgotten that.) and as a result were much slower. Then the course became flat(ish) again and I was able to keep a decent pace until the end Told myself to ”push a little more” at regular intervals like I did during my oly a couple of weeks ago. What would you do differently?: Make note of what a course is like so I don’t get surprised that it’s more hilly than I remembered. That’s that taken care of right here, good job 2023 Nat, 2024 Nat will thank you for it Post race
Warm down: Joined my friends from the running club and we shared a picnic offered by the organizers if you entered as a team of 5. Although they did not have prizes for AG, I counted the girls in my 50-54 AG and found out that I beat them all. :) Event comments: An event organised every year to raise awareness around blood donation. There are about 20 events from May to September everywhere in Sweden. 3rd time in my town. A lot of people run or walk 5 or 10k. Fun atmosphere Last updated: 2023-09-08 12:00 AM

Last race of a very successful racing season, when I hit PR at pretty much everything.
Goal was to beat a 5 year old 10k PR of 52:35
Tried to follow the W/U routine we normally do with the running club before intervals.
