Comments:

My 11th marathon on the Gold Coast!

In the last two years they have added a 'Double' event ranking people on combined times for the Sat half marathon and the Sun full marathon. This means that strategy comes into play about how hard to push on the HM and have something in the tank for the full.

I compounded this by also doing the 5km after the HM on Sat! Why not! ;-)

Despite doing 3 races over the weekend and finishing first in my AG over the 5km event (huge surprise) I also managed to be first in my AG for the Double! Not sure what was in the water but i want more of it! :-)
What would you do differently?:

Starting slower might seem obvious but it was great fun to just hang with the faster people for a while.

Warm down:

Walk 2km back to hotel.
Ice bath.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

A HM and a 5k the day before!

Event comments:

The organisation of this race is always superb. First time the HM and Marathon have both sold out so the start lines were heaving but functional.

Quality field for the men's marathon - 12 runners having clocked 2:10 or less!
