Run
Comments: My last chance to beat Joe at this race. Started with him, eventually pulling slightly ahead after we entered the park. I was hoping this would be like Boilermaker, but I sensed he was just behind me the whole time. Mile 1 was a little too fast as usual, so just tried to hold on through the tough second mile rollers. Tried to settle in the 3rd mile when it flattens, all the while feeling Joe right behind me. He finally came up to my shoulder as we hit the mile 3 marker around 16:40. He picked it up into the downhill finish, and my legs just couldn't match him. What would you do differently?: Maybe I should've stayed on Joe's shoulder instead of making an early move. Didn't have much to give at the end, and came home with a PR, so can't complain too much. Post race
Warm down: Walked around watching others finishing before heading to dinner, which was more walking. No actual cool down run. What limited your ability to perform faster: Perhaps the 5k 5 days prior took a little finishing pop out of the legs. Event comments: Will miss facing off against Joe, but that aside this is always a super fun event that I look forward to every year. Once again the fastest Albany Med employee! Ate way too much junk food at home after getting out of work at 3:00. Eventually got on the bus to head to the plaza, met up at the Albany Med tent for pictures, etc.
Easy jog with a few strides and drills at the end. Changed shoes and headed to the start line, finding Joe for one final show down.
