Total Time = 1h 27m 58s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = Women all ages
Age Group Rank = 2/7
Pre-race routine:

Left my house at 8 for the 90 minutes drive. Motivational playlist on (up tempo songs by my favourite artists and more), loud singing.

This race used to be the last race of the season but now it’s the first so I was not expecting to do better than last time (01:25:54 in 2022)

Realistic goal 1h29
Event warmup:

5 minutes light jog, some mobility movement.
Swim
  • 16m 32s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 12s / 100 meters
Comments:

First tri of the season, haven’t swam much yet (as I don’t do pools) so was expecting a slower time than in 22.

Nice swim, found my rhythm and it felt great. 1 minute 8 secs slower. Not too bad

Goal was 17 so on target

Transition 1
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Good T1, same as last time, and as per goal

What would you do differently?:

Recently cut the legs on my wetsuit, which made it easier to take off.

Bike
  • 40m 44s
  • 20 kms
  • 29.46 km/hr
Comments:

Great bike, negociated the U-Turns beautifully, felt in control the whole time.

25sec better than 2022. I have been taking a spinning class this winter, I guess that paid off

Caught up with my fast swimming buddy at the end
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

a sub part T2 on this course. 24 seconds slower than last time. I did have longer to run with the bike though, that's my excuse. Also a little issue putting my shoes on.

Still, the best T2 in my category.

What would you do differently?:

do something about the running shoes
Run
  • 28m 25s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 41s  min/km
Comments:

Run went as I expected, slower than 2 years ago (by over 2 minutes) but 35sec faster than the realistic goal as I managed to stay under 6 min/km on average (5:40)

Felt great, maybe too good, I could have pushed a little more

Post race
Warm down:

jumped back in the lake, talked to the few people I knew and some I didn't, ate a sausage.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing really, except I didn't want to. This is not my A race

Event comments:

a small friendly event. was cancelled last year (sept) due to lack of participants. Was full this year at the new date. Great :)
