Pre-race routine:

Breakfast in the hotel, then rode the bike down to the start.
Event warmup:

2 mile jog warm up before getting into the wetsuit.
Swim
  • 27m 43s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pretty good swim overall. Held on to the lead group for as long as I could. Possibly for the best that I eventually fell off, as they went off course briefly (explains my higher than expected ranking).
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

Solid. Not rushing, but efficient.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 2h 21m 50s
  • 56 miles
  • 23.69 mile/hr
Comments:

This was awesome. Plan was to go as hard as I could ("try to blow up"), and see what happens. I lapped every 14 miles, and the NP did slide down each time, but that also fits with the elevation profile. 234 overall is still super aggressive for me. I started the bike in 4th, and took over 1st about 5 miles in. Never looked back. Had to wake up some of the aid station volunteers haha. Nutrition was on point. Couldn't quite get under 2:20, maybe one day on a flat course.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, awesome ride.
Transition 2
  • 02m 21s
Comments:

I had to pee, and I knew I was in the lead, so I went into a transition porta. Apparently this caused quite the stir in the crowd haha. I was told not to pee on my shoes, and I saw no reason for it. Pretty funny.
What would you do differently?:

Eh who cares, I was in the lead with my strongest leg still to go.
Run
  • 1h 25m 24s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 06m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

I planned to keep it under control here, with SOS next weekend. I'd say I was in 4th gear, maybe up to 4.5 for this. Always felt comfortable, and like I had a little more to give if someone came close to me. Luckily, didn't need it. I even took another pee break at the first turn around. Crazy to lay down this time without hurting myself.
What would you do differently?:

As per the plan, this was ideal.
Post race
Warm down:

Chatted with some finishers, then did a cool down jog for 3 miles (gotta log it for Chicago).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fastest bike and fastest run, en route to a pretty decisive overall victory. Can't complain.

Event comments:

Love this course so much. Happy to race here again after that year's catastrophe. Alpha Win still has it's annoying quirks, but this was a pretty smoothly run operation by their standards.
